WFD Milestone
November 9, 2006 – 11:29 pm by: Nick BubbYesterday’s Vote post reflected a milestone for WFD: our 250th post. We are also just 9 comments short of 1,000 responses!
That’s right - in a little over a year we have created significant coverage of Wisconsin Debate and Forensics, almost to the point of a post and three comments per day. I’d just like to pause to mention all of the things that WFD has accomplished over the last year and two months.
- We have provided live updates from many tournaments including: NFL Nationals, WDCA State, the Capitol City Challenge, Alex Meseck Invitational, Brookfield Central, University of Michigan, NFL Qualifiers, and the Alexandra Hoecherl Challenge.
- We have provided results from almost every Wisconsin Debate and Forensics Tournament
- We have interviewed important members of the debate and forensics community, with several more planned.
- We have provided a judge email list serv so that coaches can more easily get ahold of judges.
- We have started a debate case list for teams to make better and more in-depth arguments
- We have started community events for judges and coaches - namely, a Brewer Game.
- We have taken photos of many forensics and debate competitions.
- We have started numerous discussions on how best to improve our state.
- We have begun archiving and researching Wisconsin Debate history to perserve online for future generations.
- Our writer’s pieces have been featured on National Debate sites. Including our Laptop Discussion and Bill’s Recomendations on how to prep for debate camp.
And we’ve done it all for FREE - as a service to all of you. I’d like to thank the members of the community who have been so helpful in putting together this website: Bill Batterman, Mike Traas (who can’t even access this from school now), Adam Jacobi, and the folks who have joined this year: Paul Hager, Cory Puuri, and Erik Baseman. Thanks! With an increased demand for my time, I’m having a hard time putting together updates by myself and so I need to rely on these excellent individuals in order to keep WFD afloat. Again, if you’d like to write regularly or on an occassional basis - please let me know.

A genuine congradulations to the entire WFD staff–notably the veteransl; Nick Bubb, Michael Traas, Adam Jacobi, and Bill Batterman. When, some years ago, the idea for a Wisconsin Debate/Forensics website was proposed, many people thought that this idea wasn’t very realistic. If i recall the early cross-x discussions, I think the words ‘utopian’ and ‘unrealistic’ were fairly common. Well, the dissenters were wrong. This website is truly an impressive manifestation of the dedication present in Wisconsin Debate and Foresnsics. To all those who have contributed, currenty contribute, or will contribute to Wisconsin Forensics Daily, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks. Wisconsin needed this.

Congratulations to Nick and the entire staff! I think this has been a fantastic web site from the get-go, and I’m glad to see it reach such a high post count. Great job!

Congrats to everyone on the WFD staff. WFD, through its brief history, has been an important catalyst for progressive change in the Wisconsin debate and forensics community and is an irreplaceable forum for the discussion of WDCA and WHSFA policy. It has helped give former members and current students in the forensics community an outlet for their opinions, proposals, and projects.
Although you owe us nothing… can we have a WFD Bucks game? :)
