Final Policy Debate Topic Selection for 2008-2009
October 31, 2007 – 9:39 am by: Adam JacobiThe National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) conducted its initial balloting of five proposed topic areas for next year’s Policy Debate topic. Based on the preliminary results, the topic which receives a majority vote in the final balloting of the 53 constituencies (50 states, the NFL, NCFL and NDCA) will become next year’s topic, announced in early January.
The announced finalists are:
- HEALTH CARE - Resolved: The United States federal government should establish a universal health care system in the United States.
- ALTERNATIVE ENERGY - Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase alternative energy incentives in the United States.
The WHSFA and WDCA have partnered to conduct balloting of Wisconsin coaches to submit a our choice to the NFHS; details will be available on the WHSFA/WDCA Web site soon.

I forgot to mention that about a dozen Wisconsin coaches submitted their ballots; following was the tabulated vote submitted by Wisconsin to the NFHS.
