Results From The Milwaukee NCFL Debate Qualifying Tournament

The Milwaukee Diocese of the National Catholic Forensic League held its national debate qualifying tournament on Saturday at Rufus King High School. Competition was held in Policy and Public Forum Debate; in Lincoln-Douglas, only five students were entered and so qualification to the Grand National Tournament was automatic. Results are available below the fold.

Policy Debate

There were eleven teams from six schools in the policy division. After four rounds, the top five teams qualified for Nationals.

  1. Marquette BB - Joe Balistreri & Ben Benson (4-0, 228.0)
  2. Appleton East CM - Emily Chen & Vinodh Muthiah (3-1, 224.5)
  3. Marquette BC - Alex Beck & Noah Charles (3-1, 222.5)
  4. Cedarburg DW - B.J. Dworak & Steve Ward (3-1, 220.5)
  5. Marquette HM - Michael Hoffmann & Jack Mackay (3-1, 218.0)
  6. Nicolet CL - Brittany Coats & Abby Loxton (2-2, 229.5)
  7. Nicolet FL - Gabriella Friedman & Keith Lewis (2-2, 215.3)

Public Forum Debate

There were six teams from four schools in the public forum division. After four rounds, the top five teams qualified for Nationals.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate

Only five students were entered in the Lincoln-Douglas division: two from Marquette, two from Rufus King, and one from Appleton East. As a result, all five qualify for Nationals.
