Judge List Serv
Wisconsin Forensics Daily is proud to announce the development of its judge list-serve.
For those of you without a Ph. D. in computer science, a list-serve (often list-serv) is a one to many communication device, sent directly to user email accounts. In less technical terms; with a single email sent to the list serve, the list serve sends that same message to all of the members of the email list. This poses significant advantages for anyone who wants to communicate with a large number of people in short amount of time. Instead of having to remember each persons’ email address, and sending the message to them directly, one only has to send one email to one address (the list serve’s).
Why a Judge-List serve? Let’s be honest, all tournament and program directors have problems finding judges at one point or another. Moreover, I know, from my experiences that there are many people that are in the debate community who would love to judge, if only they knew of the opportunities that existed for them. A community list serve facilitates both ideas. Judges who would like to be a member of our community every week or even just a few times each year can now be aware of all the opportunities available to them. Furthermore, a list serve is a two way street. Often time tournament directors do not know of all of the potential judges in their area. A list serve can correct this problem, by providing an avenue in which judges can express their desire to judge at given tournaments.
So if you’re interested in judging in Wisconsin for Debate and Forensics, please join the judge list. Email the list when you’re available to judge at tournaments, and coaches email the list when you need to find judges!
